He was elected to the 11th parliament legislature in the 2016 Snap General Election.[4]
By 6th May after his election he defeated a third electoral petition against him from a candidate for the Iauko Group Party, Xavier Harry which he called for a recount with the results and he still secured the last seat in the seven member Tanna constituency, by ten votes.[5]
Prime Minister Charlot Salwai appointed the Tanna MP Andrew Solomon Napuat as new Minister of internal Affairs on the 19th of December 2017.[6][7] He has taken the place of the member of parliament of the Santo constituency of the same political party Graon mo Jastis political party (GJP), Alfred Maoh. PM Salwai appointed Mr Napuat and transferred Mr Maoh to the Ministry of Land where the Chairman of GJP and also a member for Port Vila Parliament Ralph Rengenvanu was maintaining it. He has transferred Mr Rengenvanu to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[8].
He was Minister for Internal Affairs for 3 years.
