Naka FC, a football team affiliated under the Port Vila Football Association (PVFA), is gearing up for its debut season in the Premier League, after concluding training sessions.
Naka President and Member of Parliament (MP) for Tanna, Andrew Napuat, conveyed that they committed to stay in the league and showcase their talent through national platforms.
““If one or two of our players participate in international competitions or secure contracts with clubs outside our country, it will be a milestone in our area,” he said.

The football club is a newcomer to the league. Its rise has been meteoric, clinching the championship in their first season in the second division and securing a runner-up position in the subsequent season. Their initiation into the premier league comes with the upcoming ABMs Cup, a tournament that will test the team’s mettle against seasoned opponents.
Explaining the origin of the team’s name, Napuat said: “Naka is one of the seven languages used in the island. In terms of government, Naka is also an area council covering the full northern region.”
Napuat said he wants to see the team exposed to opportunities. Naka FC aims to be a platform for players from the island to display their skills on both domestic and national levels, he said.
Despite the absence of proper facilities and a dedicated football field, President Napuat commended the players for their remarkable performances. “I am surprised by their dedication and skill, considering the challenges they face in terms of training facilities,” he added.
He further revealed that the players have caught the attention of football clubs and coaches, underscoring the need for a proper football field in the area to nurture and develop their talent further.
In a passionate call to the people of Naka, Napuat urged fans to rally behind the team.
“Your support is crucial. We can’t do it alone. Let’s unite and help our boys shine not only in the premier league but also on national and international stages,” he added.
