Green passport back in stock

Internal Affairs Minister, Andrew Napuat, has confirmed that the Vanuatu green Passport booklet which was depleted in May of this year is now back in stock.

“The Ministry and the Immigration officials made sure that passports are back in stock on time as promised to the people of Vanuatu,” Minister Napuat told Daily Post.

In May this year, the Vanuatu Green Passport was depleted and urgent order was placed to ensure sufficient copies was printed to meet the demand by Ni-Vanuatu citizens who travel overseas for studies, working and other reasons.

Three months ago, the Vanuatu Immigration Department ran out of the Green Passport booklets.

The Minister responsible for Immigration said the Ministry and the Department of Immigration were urged to ensure sufficient copies of the Vanuatu Green passport booklets are printed and stocked.

The green passport booklets have always been paid for and printed in Germany.

When the stock was depleted this year, Minister Napuat said he does not want to see another shortage or the Government would have to look at other options to print the booklets.

Minister Napuat told the Daily Post at the time that the citizens of Vanuatu deserve this service, plus an improved quality of the national passports. He assured the public of Vanuatu at the time that he will ensure this does not happen again in future.

At the time, Minister Napuat also said it is the intention of his Ministry to extend the validity of the Vanuatu Passports to minimize the frequency of Vanuatu citizens studying and working overseas applying for new passports.
